PS5 emulator successfully runs six titles at a playable 60 FPS

An open-source PlayStation 5 emulator called SharpEmu has crossed a notable threshold: six games now run at a steady 60 frames per second. The project's maintainers announced the achievement on September 25 via social media, noting that among 55 titles tested, a dozen reached playable status overall, with six of those hitting the performance target.

The developers clarified that "playable" does not mean fully polished. The six games currently execute without crashes, though minor visual or sound glitches may still appear. Additionally, none of the six have been run completely from beginning to end; the designation reflects current performance during testing sessions rather than comprehensive validation.

The titles achieving 60 FPS performance are Dreaming Sarah, Void Terrarium, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered. This progress came with SharpEmu v0.0.4-release.2, the latest public version released on September 25. The update brought enhancements including better SPIR-V shader translation and refreshed Vulkan API compatibility.
