A 3D artist who purchased what they thought was an Asus executive-signed graphics card from a secondhand marketplace discovered it bore Jensen Huang's signature instead, now valued at $10,000 to $15,000 at auction.
An artist working in 3D graphics acquired an unopened Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 White OC through the secondhand market, anticipating it carried the signature of an Asus executive commemorating the company's three-decade milestone. The discovery upon unboxing proved far more valuable: the graphics processing unit bore the autograph of Nvidia's chief executive, Jensen Huang.
Huang had signed the unit and displayed it publicly last year before it was designated for distribution to a fortunate gamer. While the artist declined to disclose their purchase price, current retail pricing for new RTX 5090 models begins at $5,000 and escalates depending on the specific variant. Rather than deploying the card for its intended computational purpose, the purchaser opted to resell it, recognizing the substantial market value attached to such a scarce, autographed specimen.
The Bonhams auction house now holds the graphics card, with bidding scheduled to run from October 4 through October 14, 2026. Presale estimates place the unit's value between $10,000 and $15,000, buoyed by Huang's signature as Nvidia's founder. Context from comparable sales suggests the final hammer price could substantially exceed these projections: an Asus ROG Matrix RTX 4090 bearing Huang's signature sold for $16,000 in 2023, while an Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhabab OC Edition autographed by Huang fetched $24,200 at auction the following year.
Earlier this year, another Huang-associated item achieved record-breaking results on the auction block. The leather Tom Ford jacket worn by the executive at the Hon Hai (Foxconn) Tech Day in Taipei during October 2023 went to auction at Sotheby's with an estimated range of $40,000 to $60,000. The final sale price reached $960,000—more than one hundred times the garment's original manufacturer's retail price of $9,000.
